Part 1 Quizlet
Task 0Start with creating a post named "Lesson 5" in your blog. All the tasks you will complete today must be in that post.
Now, you have already done some exercises at Quizlet (I hope so;)). That means that you have already got a Quizlet account. If not, start with signing up. As soon as you get to your dashboard, start completing the tasks:
Task 1
Create your set from scratch.
- Click "Create a set" at the top of the page.
- Title your set as "Appearance Vocabulary"
- Choose English for Terms and Russian for Definitions.
- Write six English words on the topic of "Appearance" in the Terms column.
- Add an image to each word and try "Auto-define" feature or write your own translations.
- Click "Create"
- Try all four activities in "Study" and two games of "Play" with your set
- Study the "Tools": Find out how many modes you can print your set in, how you can share the set.
- Click "More" in "Tools". What happens if you Export your set? Close the Export page and return to your set.
- Embed you set in your "Lesson 5" post. To do it, start a new post in your blog (if you haven't done task 0 yet) or open the tab with your blog in post writing mode and choose an HTML mode of composing the post. Then come back to Quizlet, choose your set, Tools -> More -> Embed, copy the code for Flashcards and paste it in your post. Return to the "Compose" mode of writing a post and publish it.
Task 2
Create your set by Import
- In Quizlet click "Create a set" at the top of the page.
- Title your set as "Food Vocabulary"
- Find "Import" under the title box on your right and click it
- In a new tab open a vocabulary list at http://goo.gl/EbaICC
- Copy (Ctrl+C) 7-10 lines from the list
- Return to the tab with Quizlet and paste the lines into the empty box
- Under the box find "Between Term and Definition", choose "Custom" and write in the near box " -" (But no inverted commas) If everything is done right, then one column in preview under the box with the pasted words will be filled with words in English and THE OTHER with their translations.
- Click "Import terms". Edit the set if necessary, then click "Create"
- Post the link to your set in your blog.(Tools -> Share ->Short URL copy/paste)
Find a ready set
- In the search box at the top of the page type the topic you are studying at Speech Practice
- Choose one vocabulary set that you like and post a link to it in your blog.
Part 2 Lingualeo
Another site to study is Lingualeo.com. You can also add a Lingualeo application to your browser and it will help you to translate the words in any online text and add the unknown words to your dictionary. And there's an Android and IOS app.
- Go to the site Lingualeo.com and sign up
- Surf "the Jungle" there
- Add several words in your dictionary on the site
- Try different ways to train the words
- Look at the ready-made sets of words
- Study the Android/IOS app to describe its functionality
- Post your impressions about Lingualeo and ideas how you can use it for your studies (100-150 words).
Explore the sites below. For each site answer the following questions and post your answers in your blog:
- What can you find on this site?
- Is it comfortable to use?
- Can you download audiofiles?
- Are there video tasks?
- Are there tasks with the keys?
- Are there tasks for different level speakers?
- What do you find most interesting and useful?
